Preface

This document intends to show how the number of users connected to Sokker varies throughout the day, during the whole week. With this goal, has been used a sample of 595 messages posted by 34 different users (see Acknowledgements) from the spanish "Foro valoraciones" forum, during 21 days in a row, from january 31 until february 21 (2006).

In the graphs has been taken into consideration the total number of users at each moment, working with percentages instead of absolute values, due to the number of total users changes constantly with new registers or giving-ups. The first day they were hardly 20.500 and three weeks later were more than 22.000 users, as is displayed in the next diagram:

The table "Samples" just before these lines, shows the distribution along all the 21 days and 24 hours of those 595 messages sent (without erroneous or duplicates). The files with these samples can be examined in text (16.4KB) or pdf (31.8KB) formats. Note: In all these references has been used the Sokker time (GMT+1).

Results

Sorting the previous samples, we can see how varies along all the day for each week day the number of users connected to Sokker. The next graph locates each sample data on his appropiate hour interval, using a different color for each week day:

Because of there are values for the same week day collected on different dates, has been opted for use percentages for the quantity of users online, with regard to the total number of users each time. The maximum value obteined corresponds to 20:25h on wednesday, with a 8.45% (about 1850 users in february 2006). The next graph shows the same information than the previous one, but representing data using lines calculated from average values for consecutive pairs of sample data:

After this, we can conclude:

Is reasonable to bear in mind that these percentages have been calculated in february, 2006. Probably, within some months they could be a different ones, according to the new users from some countries.

These graphs wouldn't have been possible without the help of a lot of users, providing the necessary data during many days. All of them are included in the next diagram, beside their posting references:
